Yoga discussed as pain remedy

The Comox Valley Chronic Pain Support Group hosts a talk and demonstration Feb. 15, with Clare Blanchflower, a Courtenay-based holistic natural health practitioner, yoga instructor and educator.

Yoga is a holistic healing discipline that offers a broad range of tools for supporting health and healing. Yoga’s tools include postures, conscious breathing techniques, meditative practices, gestures, the use of vocal sounds, guided self-inquiry and much more. These tools can be utilized in an infinite number of combinations to suit the unique needs of the individual throughout the ever-changing stages of life.

During the session, Blanchflower will share how the subtle practices of yoga — breathing techniques, hand mudra and guided body awareness — can have therapeutic benefits for those living with chronic pain.

Blanchflower started to study and practise yoga as a therapeutic tool 17 years ago on her own journey for physical and spiritual health when living with chronic illness. She is passionate about educating and nourishing others by sharing the tools and techniques she has learned.

Tuesday’s talk is at the Comox Valley Nursing Centre from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Seating is limited to 20. Call 250-331-8504 extension 38115 to register for the session.
