Teluos encourages support of trail project
For the next six months, Telus will contribute $25 on behalf of every customer who signs up for Optik TV in Courtenay, Comox and Cumberland in support of the Rotary Trail Project.
“The Rotary Trail is a wonderful addition to our community, and it just keeps getting better,” said Courtenay Mayor Larry Jangula. “By connecting neighbourhoods, businesses and schools, the trail promotes healthy lifestyles and provides a safe, convenient, family-friendly alternative for pedestrians and cyclists. We’re extremely grateful to Telus for their support; it’s a real investment in our community’s future.”
The Rotary Trail is a community trail next to the E&N Rail Corridor in Courtenay. The first phase of the trail, completed in 2011, connected Fifth Street to Cumberland Road. The second phase, connecting Cumberland Road to 17th Street, opened to the public this past September and brought the total trail length to one kilometre.
Telus is pleased to join the Courtenay Rotary Club as a supporter of the Rotary Trail, and will contribute to the next phase of construction between 17th and 26th streets.
The Island Corridor Foundation, the owner of the E&N Rail Corridor, has set a goal to expand multi-purpose use within the corridor, and is actively working with other local governments along the corridor to develop similar projects.
“On behalf of our valued customers in the Comox Valley, Telus is thrilled to contribute to the further development of a trail that promotes a healthy, safe and family-friendly lifestyle,” said Ray Lawson, Telus general manager for Vancouver Island.
Since 2000, Telus, its team members and retirees have contributed $100,000 to charitable and not-for-profit organizations in Courtenay, Comox and Cumberland and volunteered more than 25,000 hours of their time in service of local charities and community organizations.
The campaign is available to all customers who sign up for Telus Optik TV at Telus locations in Courtenay, Comox and Cumberland between Nov. 19 and May 7. For more information, visit www.Telus.com/tv or call 250-310-MYTV.
