Deadline looms for poet laureate search

Cumberland singer/songwriter PK Tessmann has been named to the panel jurying the written and spoken words of entrants in the second Comox Valley Poet Laureate Search, now underway.

As well as a performer and recording artist, Tessmann teaches young singers and songwriters and has a strong community spirit.

She joins outgoing CV poet laureate Kevin Flesher, rap artist Eric Ettinger and past NIC English department chair Anne Cumming on the jury.

The entry/nomination deadline for the Word Up2 search is Feb. 14; details can be found at ComoxValleyArts.com.

Entrants will submit a sampling of their poetic works and then will have a chance to show their vocal chops to judges and the public at the open Word UP2 poet laureate event March 5. Finals will follow.
