A big part of water safety is knowing about the proper size and fit of a lifejacket.

In conjunction with the Canadian Red Cross’s annual National Lifejacket Day, Comox Valley Regional District aquatics staff welcome you to join in on a fun event which encourages and promotes the use of lifejackets and personal floatation devices (PFD) among boaters and other recreational enthusiasts who like to spend time near or on the water.

Have some family fun while learning valuable safety skills on Friday, May 19 from 6-9:30 p.m. at the CVRD Aquatic Centre.

The whole family can take part in a number of fun PFD games, contests and relays. Get your lifejacket or PFD inspected by one of our aquatics staff for free. There will be two-for-one admission for anyone brining a lifejacket from home.

“This is an ideal time to refresh or learn important safety information when it comes to being out on the water,” said CVRD Recreation Services manager Susan Bullock. “We enoourage residents of our community to feel comfortable around water and be able to enjoy some safe, summer fun.”
