Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Military Ordinariate Catholic Women’s League Council of 19 Wing Comox, sent red mittens to all deployed soldiers from Comox serving overseas.

“From Comox With Love.”

Red signifies the colour of giving, courage and love. These gifts included a surprise, a gift from home “from our hands to yours” sent with best wishes and prayers for a safe return home.

The red mittens were included with the gift boxes sent from the CMFRC (Comox Military Family Resource Centre).

Many thanks to everyone who supported our troops, and helped the CWL with this “Red Mittens CWL Project.”

The Red Mittens CWL Project was inspired by the Karen Kingsbury book, Maggie’s Miracle, in which red gloves were given away.

When the local council decided to do something special for Christmas for the deployed troops from Comox, the Red Mittens CWL Project was created.

With donations of fleece material, surprises were placed inside the mittens.

Members and non-members donated their talents to cut out or sew, and prepare the finished items for shipping. The project was completed in time for shipping overseas for Christmas.

The CWL insignia crest bears the words ‘For God and Canada.’ The Military Ordinariate Provincial CWL Council mandate is to support its spiritual advisor, and the women and men of the military.

Thanks to everyone involved in the project.
