Find stocking stuffers at art gallery

The Comox Valley Art Gallery invites everyone to the grand opening of its 33rd annual Christmas craft fair.

Everyone is welcome to this special yearly fair where local artisans have generated handmade wares that are ideal for gift-giving or to treat oneself.

The CVAG Christmas craft fair is such an abundance of treasures that it overflows from its usual gift shop space into the Arts and Crafts Gallery and partially takes over one-third of the main exhibition gallery.

What kinds of things would one find? Everything from handmade specialty soaps to artisan shoulder bags, hand-carved walking sticks to handmade Christmas ornaments.

Look forward to new items such as handmade gourmet candy and chocolate, fabric arts and specialty preserves.

There are many new artisans featured this year, as well as some returning to complement the work made by the gift shop’s year-round roster.

This year CVAG’s Christmas craft fair begins with a sneak peek next Friday. The gift shop will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. for Christmas Magic, and all four galleries will be opening new exhibitions with a reception at 7 p.m.

The Christmas craft fair officially opens Nov. 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. During the opening, refreshments will be served and you’ll have a chance to meet some of the artists and craftspeople.

The Christmas craft fair runs until Dec. 31.
