Freeman earns nominations

Comox Valley expatriate Trent Freeman has earned two nominations for the ninth annual Vancouver Island Music Awards.

Freeman, who spends much of his time these days in Eastern Canada and on the road, is nominated in the Island Music Video of the Year category for Hot Spot for a Hobo and in the Island Instrumental or Experimental Album of the Year for Rock Paper Scissors.

Several other Comox Valley performers are award hopefuls.

Brodie Dawson is in the running for Island Live Act of the Year, Keisja Cox is an Island Youth Artist of the Year and Luke Blu Guthrie is a finalist for the Island Roots Album or EP of the Year.

The gala awards ceremony will take place April 28 at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Victoria.

More information and earlybird tickets (until March 1) are available at islandmusicawards.wordpress.com.
