Cornerstone Café and Taphouse is set to host Brooklyn, NY recording artists, The Jay Vons, for a special night of live soul and R&B.
The Jay Vons come to Cornerstone Taphouse on Aug. 11 as one of only two West Coast appearances while on their trip as the backing band for American soul legend, Lee Fields & the Expressions.
In the four years since their last Vancouver Island appearance at Rifflandia 2013, The Jay Vons released a single on Van Isle-based La-Ti-Da Records, recorded at the Daptone House of Soul, the b-side, Days Undone turned up in both Cuba Gooding Jr’s Life of A King and Sylvester Stallone’s Creed.
The Jay Vons toured Spain and Portugal in 2015 to support their release on La Castanya Records. Most recently, The Jay Vons released Want You Tomorrow on Daptone Records subsidiary, Wick Records. They managed all of this while holding down collective duties with The Reigning Sound (Merge Records) and individually playing with Lee Fields & The Expressions and Naomi Shelton & The Gospel Queens.
