The band will be featuring some fun pieces such as the “Pirates of the Caribbean”. They will also play “Taste of Tijuana” to feature the brass section. Then, they will travel musically to Hawaii playing “Songs of Aloha”.

“Even if you’re not generally into concert band music come and try it out, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how great the music is and that you know most of the tunes,” says band member and publicity co-ordinator Shari Barker.

Established in 1872, Nanaimo Concert Band is one of Canada’s oldest continuously operating bands, made up of more than 50 musicians playing a wide variety of brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments. The unique and important value the band brings to Nanaimo is that band members come from all walks of life and live and work in the community.

Simms Millennium Park is located by the 5th Street Bridge and across from Lewis Park. Please bring your own lawn chair or blanket.

Other featured Simms Park performances on Sundays at 7pm include Fiddlejam on July 30, Country Pickin’ on August 13, Duo of Duos on August 20, and Completely Creedence on August 27.
