Toad In A Tree has created a hat to benefit the Love From Jenn Foundation.

Moved by Jennifer Zahavich’s story, the Campbell River-based company found a way to contribute to Zahavich’s dream of creating a foundation that will financially support a Comox Valley person with cancer in obtaining naturopathic treatment.

The “Jenn” hat is available in a variety of colours and fabric choices. Each hat includes the signature owl applique that was created just for Jenn.

Originally created for children, the hat is now available in adult sizes.

The hat can be ordered directly from Toad In A Tree or purchased at Podlings in Courtenay.

Three dollars from each hat and $10 from each diaper bag and carrier benefits the Love From Jenn Foundation.

So far, Kim Seeley and Amanda Feltham at Toad In A Tree have raised $267 through the sale of 79 hats and three diaper bags.

Jennifer Zahavich was a 31-year-old Comox Valley mom, wife, friend and teacher who battled cancer twice in three years.

At the age of 28, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and was treated with chemotherapy.

At 31, the cancer returned to her lymphatic system.

Without a chemotherapy treatment designed for her type of cancer, Zahavich sought alternative cancer treatments in the Comox Valley.

Zahavich passed away March 6, but her dream is alive. Her husband and brother are currently setting up the foundation, which will financially support a Comox Valley person with cancer in obtaining naturopathic treatment.

Donations in the way of cash and cheques (made out to the Love From Jenn Foundation) are accepted at Podlings in Courtenay and The Freakin’ Coffeeshop in Tin Town.

Zahavich’s story can be found on her personal blog at http://babywillyoulovemewhenimbald.blogspot.com/.
