Dangerous man arrested, accused of assaulting and threatening girlfriend

A man on the provincial high-risk offender registry was arrested by Comox Valley RCMP after a woman complained her boyfriend had beaten her, police say.
RCMP investigated a complaint of assault and threats after being
approached on the street in downtown Courtenay by a female.
"It was apparent by some notable injuries to the woman's facial area that something had occurred," the RCMP said in a news release.
"The female stated that she has been getting beaten up for several weeks now as she and her boyfriend have been travelling up and down Vancouver Island, the most recent assault occurring
the morning of Oct. 13 in the Courtenay area."
The woman said the man had threatened her.
Bruce Hawkins was located and arrested without incident. He was
held in custody for a provincial court appearance Friday in Courtenay.
