Proposed Comox Valley hospital rezoning appearing at Courtenay council
The proposed Comox Valley Hospital will head into a critical next step at Monday's Courtenay council meeting.
Courtenay CAO Sandy Gray notes a rezoning application and a request to amend the City's Official Community Plan are expected to come before Courtenay council during the meeting — which starts Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. in the council chambers of Courtenay City Hall at 830 Cliffe Ave.
Council is expected to give consideration to the first and second readings of the proposed OCP and zoning amendment bylaws.
If passed, a public hearing would go ahead later in the month.
The Vancouver Island Health Authority would give a formal presentation to council at the public hearing, and members of the public would have the chance to express their views as well.
The public would also be able to send written submissions to the City of Courtenay before the public hearing, which would then become part of the official public record on the rezoning application.
Meanwhile, VIHA held an open house on the North Island Hospitals Project — which includes new hospitals for the Comox Valley and Campbell River by 2017 — in the Comox Valley last week.
The open house focused on design building guidelines for the new hospitals, like building scale and form, landscaping and safety and security, among other things.
