THE INVESTORS GROUP Mayor Larry Jangula of Courtenay led the Walk for Memories in support of the Alzheimer Society of B.C. last Sunday afternoon, starting and finishing at the Courtenay Recreation Centre. The 2013 honouree was Duke Warren of Comox, a Spitfire pilot in the Second World War. Both he and his wife Melba developed Alzheimer's disease in their 80s; Melba passed away in 2010 and Duke in 2011. More than 70,000 individuals and families in B.C. are living with dementia.
