Courtenay Rotary Club back with annual giant online auction
The Courtenay Rotary Club is well known for its community building projects.
This year, the Courtenay Rotary sixth annual Online Auction is bringing the theme of building to the forefront, quite literally. With the generous donations of local contractors, suppliers, trades service providers, and other professionals, the club will auction one of the new units at the Ridgeview Development located on Muir Road in Courtenay.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place March 21 at 2 p.m. Come and be part of this exciting event.
The value of the townhouse unit, donated at cost by Art Winter of AH Winter and Son Construction and John Verrier of Avril Homes, is $259,900 based on the appraised value.
The difference between the reserved bid and the winning bid determines the amount of funds raised for the Courtenay Rotary Club. Increasing the fundraising value are the donated services of trades people and suppliers who were involved in the construction of the unit.
Bids for the townhouse must be pre-qualified, and the details of this process can be viewed online at www. courtenayrotary.com.
In addition to the townhouse unit, the online auction will also feature dozens of other items and services, donated by generous business sponsors. The online auction runs throughout the month of April and items can be viewed online.
Rod Hunter, president of the Courtenay Rotary Club, gives thanks for the support of our community to both buyers and sellers whose generosity will ensure the success of this year’s fundraiser.
The Rotary Trail, a project that celebrated its grand opening in 2011, provides a key route for both pedestrians and cyclists along the E&N Railway tracks and a new connection between local neighbourhoods, schools, and businesses. In addition to being a recreational pathway, use of the Rotary Trail also encourages an active lifestyle and an opportunity for more community interaction among seniors, youth, and families.
Proceeds raised in the online auction will support an extension of the Rotary Trail from 17th Street to 29th Street.
“Today’s and future generations will forever enjoy the Rotary Trail to enhance their lifestyle and bring our Comox Valley community closer together,” stated Art Meyers, chair of this year’s Online Auction as well as being the project co-ordinator.
