Air force captain in Comox guilty of possessing child porn
A Canadian Forces member based at 19 Wing Comox has been convicted of accessing and possessing child pornography.
Capt. Glen Engebretson, 46, of Comox was found guilty of one count of accessing child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography, following an April 2010 raid of his home.
Comox Valley RCMP and members of the B.C. Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit and the Canadian Armed Forces Military Police searched Engebretson's home and seized two computers, finding around 150 videos and 120 images that are classified as child pornography.
Cpl. Van Laer of the B.C. ICE unit said last year the investigation was initiated in Europe and involved the identification of computers found in possession of child pornography material on a file-sharing network.
Engebretson's trial began in August 2012. A date for sentencing is scheduled to be set Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Courtenay courthouse.
Each charge carries a maximum of five years imprisonment.
