Body found near Denman Island

Comox Valley RCMP confirm they have recovered a body floating in the ocean near Denman Island Thursday afternoon.

With the assistance of the Canadian Coast Guard, the body was recovered and transported to St. Joseph's Hospital. After an examination of the body, it was determined foul play is not suspected.

Police note the body is believed to be that of the man reported missing several weeks ago in the area - Robert John Thompson, 65.

Further inquiries will be conducted before a positive identification can be made. The investigation will be continuing with the assistance of the BC coroners service.
