Cumberland's new playround now open

After months of construction work, and even more months of anticipation, the Village Park Playground is now open to the public.

Please use caution in the area while temporary fencing is being removed and other minor work is completed.

Village staff have been working on the project for the last eight months, a process that started with asking the community (and in particular, local children) what features they would like to see in the new playground. As such, the old favourites – slides, swings, and monkey bars – can be found alongside new favourites such as the 25m custom zipline.

Please note that the zipline is a complex mechanical piece of equipment – as such, a "break-in" period can be expected prior to it operating at its peak performance. Lots of use will help to break it in!

The Rotary Club of Cumberland Centennial is a major financial supporter of the project, partially through their partnerships with the Province of British Columbia and Tire Stewardship BC.

A formal grand opening ceremony will take place on Saturday, February 22 at 11 a.m. The Village invites the entire community to attend and celebrate with Council and major project funders. Check www.cumberland.ca for more details as the date approaches.
