Army presence on Comox Lake

The Canadian Army is hosting five countries on Exercise Roguish Buoy 2016, running throughout the month of February in the vicinity of Comox Lake.

The goal of the exercise is to prepare army dive teams to conduct diving tasks in support of deployment operations at the direction of the Government of Canada.

Soldiers from Belgium, France, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States are also participating in the Canadian Army’s annual combat diving collective training event.

“Exercise Roguish Buoy 2016 is a challenging exercise demonstrating the excellent underwater capabilities of Canada and our allies,” said Minister of National Defence, Harjit S. Sajjan, in a press release. “Hosting such exercises ensures we are well prepared for a wide range of situations below the surface.”
