Courtenay Christmas tree chopping

Courtenay tree chopping

Wondering what to do with your Christmas tree once the holidays are over?

There are a couple of options within the city.

City of Courtenay residents can leave trees at the curb for pickup on the same day as regular weekly garbage/yard waste collection. Please cut the tree in half.

Also, the Courtenay Fire Department is offering its annual Christmas Tree Chipping event on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 7 and 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Drop off your tree at the following locations by donation:

• Courtenay Fire Hall, 650 Cumberland Road;

• Crown Isle Plaza, 444 Lerwick Road in front of Thrifty Foods.

For a minimum $5 donation, residents can also arrange for the fire department to pick up trees.

All proceeds from the Christmas Tree Chipping event will go to local charities. Call 250-334-2513 for more information.
