The Town of Comox wants to hear from you.

The public is invited to attend an information meeting to be held on Nov. 28 at the Comox Community Centre Multi-Purpose Hall (1855 Noel Avenue).

Developers, contractors and design professionals are invited to attend from 2 to 4 p.m., and the public is invited to an open house from 4 to 6 p.m.

The Province of B.C. has established the B.C. Energy Step Code, which is a provincial standard for progressive steps in energy efficiency in new buildings.

The Town of Comox is now considering implementing this standard within Comox. This is one way in which the Town wishes to encourage the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. At the meeting, you will be provided with information about the B.C. Energy Step Code and invited to provide feedback on how the proposed changes will affect you.

If you cannot attend the meeting or open house, the public is invited to review the materials on the Town’s website at www.comox.ca and to complete the feedback form. Comments from builders and citizens are being invited on these potential new green building standards.

Mayor Russ Arnott encourages all members of the development community and the public to let the Town know how you feel about the planned regulations. In this way, council can make an informed choice on behalf of all of its citizens.

Contact the Planning Department at 250-339-1118 if you have any questions about how this could impact you.
