Incumbent trustee Ted Haraldson has announced his intention to run for re-election in the upcoming Union Bay Improvement District election.

Ted Haraldson:

I am proud to have been a Union Bay landowner for 43 years and built my present home 39 years ago, along the beach of Bayne Sound. I worked for the Canadian Coast Guard then DND (Department of National Defence) working for the CE section. I retired after a number of years in construction and long-distance heavy hauling all North America.

The future of Union Bay has been in contention for over two decades with very little results. The deadlines for a four-stage water filtration system are fast approaching and need to be completed not only for the sake of future development but for our safety of a clean water supply. My approach to our water issues can be resolved with some grassroots common sense, followed by the work needed to fast-forward the filtration system to Vancouver Island Health standards. The key to any water system upgrades or expansion has always been ongoing development. For the UBID to maintain the mandates of fire protection and water distribution a tax based expansion through development must move forward.
