The Comox Valley RCMP continue to investigate the shooting of a 31-year old male that occurred on Piercy Avenue, in Courtenay on March 24.

An altercation had broken out with persons known to each other, resulting in the shooting during the afternoon of March 24. The male victim was taken a local hospital, and later flown to a larger hospital for surgery, with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspects fled in a vehicle but were identified and arrested within days of the incident.

Investigators have determined that the incident was not a random act of violence. All parties were known to each other and the victim has declined police assistance.

“Although the suspects were initially arrested, they have since been released and charges have not yet been laid. The Comox Valley RCMP continue to work with the victim in the hopes of advancing the investigation and all investigative avenues are being pursued,” says Const. Rob Gardner.

The Comox Valley RCMP continue their commitment to safe homes and safe communities.
