For the week of Aug. 15-21, the Comox Valley RCMP responded to 24 calls for theft from vehicles. Items taken from these vehicles included wallets, cash/change, a tablet, license plates, CDs, phone chargers, a kayak, glasses, a Go Pro, wireless headphones, a suitcase, clothing and camera equipment. The Comox Valley RCMP cannot stress enough, the importance of ensuring you vehicle doors are locked, and nothing of value is kept in it. It is common for thieves to enter a neighbourhood and get whatever they can, simply by checking car doors in the area. If you see any suspicious activity in your neighbourhood, or have your vehicle entered, please report it to the Comox Valley RCMP.
Stolen truck
On Aug. 15, the Comox Valley RCMP received a call regarding a stolen vehicle. The white, 1991 Ford F350 Crew Cab pickup truck, bearing British Columbia licence plate LE9541, had been parked near Cumberland and Highway 19 over the weekend. The pickup is described as having a large canopy with a red Skidoo sticker and a large black bush bumper on the front. If you see this vehicle, please contact the Comox Valley RCMP. (2017-11662)
Vandals on Mission
Vandalism that occurred to a building, located on the 2300 block of Mission Road, in Courtenay, was reported to the Comox Valley RCMP on Aug. 15. Sometime over the weekend, unknown person(s) had spray-painted the building and it appears a shrub was attempted to be lit on fire. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact the Comox Valley RCMP or Crime Stoppers. (2017-11677)
Smashed window
A mischief to a business located on the 2700 block of Dunsmuir Avenue, in Cumberland, was reported to the Comox Valley RCMP on Aug. 16. Sometime overnight, the front window of the business was smashed. Nothing was stolen from the business. (2017-11732)
Cumberland tool theft
On Aug. 16, the Comox Valley RCMP received a report of a theft of tools from a residence located on the 3300 block of First Street, in Cumberland. Within the previous few days, a Jobmate tool caddy, described as being black with red stripes, and a canvas bag with miscellaneous hand tools had been stolen. (2017-11749)
Trailer, Sea Doos stolen
A business break, enter and theft was reported to the Comox Valley RCMP on Aug. 18. The gate on the fenced compound of the business, located on the 4800 block of Island Highway North, had been breached and entered. Once inside, a grey 2006 Shoreland’r boat trailer, bearing British Columbia licence plate UGP29T, and two Sea Doo personal watercrafts had been stolen. Both Sea Doos are described as being red, with one being a Model 216C and the other is a Model 178A. The Integrated Forensic Identification Section is assisting with this investigation. (2017-11851)
Kayak taken
The theft of a kayak was reported to the Comox Valley RCMP on Aug. 19. The yellow 14’ Neki Manitou kayak had been mounted on a vehicle that was parked on the 2600 block of Windermere Avenue, in Cumberland. Sometime overnight, the kayak had been stolen. (2017-11930)
Ford Focus stolen
On Aug. 20, the Comox Valley RCMP received a theft of a vehicle report. Sometime overnight, the black 2012 Ford Focus, bearing British Columbia license plate 398WMP had been stolen from the 1500 block of Piercy Avenue, in Courtenay.
