Alexandra Sabal of Courtenay, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11th, at the age of 82. She joins her husband Ben, who predeceased her in 2003. She was staying at St. Joseph's General Hospital extended care unit “Oceanview” in Comox, B.C.


Alexandra was born in Poland and moved to Vancouver Island in 1959 after marriage to her loving husband, Ben Sabal. Alexandra was a loving, caring and friendly person who loved cooking, knitting, sewing, gardening and tending to her colorful flower beds, vegetables, fruit and nut trees. She was a devoted mother and wife, friend to many.


Alexandra is survived by her sons Benny, John and Richard, daughter-in-law Tekah, and grandsons Mitchell and Luke. She was predeceased by her sister Paulina of Poland.


The family would like to thank the compassionate and caring nurses and staff at “Oceanview” for the wonderful care that Mom received in her last few months of life.


A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday October 20th, 10:00 am at Christ The King Catholic Church, 1599 Tunner Drive, Courtenay.


In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to “Oceanview” at St. Joseph’s General Hospital.
