March 5, 1930 - July 25, 2017
Alfreda was predeceased by her husband, William "Bud" Walsh in 1996, her parents Francis and Florence Withrow, her brother Alvin Withrow, and sister Carolyn Lundie.
She leaves to mourn her loss, daughters Janice (John) Forbes, Cheryl (Paul) McCaffrey and son Bruce (Karen) Walsh; her grandchildren Julia, Jordan, Paula, Rory and Carlie, 6 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews and many nieces and nephews in her extended family here and in Nova Scotia.
Alfreda was always living with a full plate, busy mom and wife as well as an entrepreneur.
She started owning her own beauty salon in her front porch in order to raise happy healthy family and gradually grew to a salon owner on air base Beaver Bank, Nova Scotia. Being an Air Force wife, enabled her to have a salon in C.F.B. Holberg, BC. When transferred to Comox, her Nu Look beauty salon opened in Courtenay, Comox, Campbell River, Gold River and then C.F.B. Cold Lake while her husband was there. She also opened Faces and Hairport at Driftwood Mall, while Bud opened a Nu World of Awards trophy and gift shop there at the same time.
Upon retiring they relocated to Desert Hot Springs, California and she worked in a hair salon and opened a nail shop in Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs.
She was a Soroptimist and a Moose Lodge member. It was an honour for her to reach Senior Regent in Desert Hot Springs and continued with the Island Moose Lodges when she returned to the Comox Valley.
She also loved "Red Hats."
After all this, her favourite things to do were camping at the beach in the summers with family and having big family dinners whether it was a holiday or not. She always had a reason to dress-up.
The family is so grateful to the wonderful home care workers who were at their Mom's side during these past months, words cannot express.
