Alyce Elizabeth Metcalf (nee Evans)
(May 9, 1924 - April 12, 2008)
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend Alyce Metcalf.
She died peacefully at home, as was her wish, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday April 12.
Alyce is survived by her sister Esther Brewer (Bob), daughters Debbie Frketich (Frank) and Cindy Parfitt (Ron), grandchildren Kira Frketich (Ryan), Evan Brown, Ashley Frketich (Nick), Chris Brown and Elise Frketich.
Although Alyce was confined to a wheelchair for most of her adult life this didn't stop her from parasailing at 60, driving until 80 and baking cookies for others until the week she died.
Alyce was an inspiration to all who met her as she was interested in everyone, especially young people, and always looked at the positive side of life.
Her family would like to thank the nurses and homecare workers who cared so well for Alyce during her last days at home.
A celebration of life will be held at the Comox Valley Funeral Home, 1101 Ryan Road, Courtenay at 2:00 p.m. Saturday April 19, 2008.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the B.C. Parapalegic Association or the Cancer Society.
