Anna Lund (nee Brown)

February 4, 1926 - September 30, 2017

Our dear mom passed away very peacefully in the evening of September 30, 2017 at Cumberland Lodge, Cumberland, B.C.  Her youngest daughter Lee Ann was with her, holding her hand.

Mom was 91 years old, and still smiling that last day. Mom lost Ernie, her husband of 54 years in 2006.

Mom has one remaining brother John Brown, but lost Abie, Agnes, Kay, and Lillian.

Mom left behind her five children, Joanne (Tim), John, Judy, David (Mia), and Lee Ann (Mike). She would always say "I have the best kids in the world".

Also, grandchildren, Jordan, Jesse, Deigh-Anna, Sarah, Laura, Jared, Julianna and Elijah, and great grandchildren Roark, Shaye, James, Brianna, Lucy, and Jase.  She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Mom was born in Russia, but emigrated to Canada with her parents and siblings when she was 3. They settled in Dundurn, Saskatchewan and she lived there through her high school years. She wanted to become an RCMP officer, but that wasn't a possibility then. She went on to become a Registered Nurse and was extremely proud of her profession.

She wore her Regina Grey Nuns gold pin and white nurses cap with enormous pride.  Mom married our dad Ernie in Saskatoon and started her family. She "thoroughly" enjoyed her vegetable garden and baked and cooked and canned - everything was homemade and everything was delicious!

We remember fondly, when we were young, Mom and her siblings sitting around the kitchen table drinking endless pots of coffee and talking and laughing in Low German.

We moved to Victoria in 1967 and mom resumed her nursing career at the Royal Jubilee Veterans' Hospital.

Mom was involved as a camp nurse, Sunday school teacher, youth counsellor at Emmanuel Baptist Church for many years and was fondly called "Frizzie" or "Blondie".

Mom volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Victoria Schizophrenic Society and various political campaigns.  Mom loved listening to Pavorotti in the evenings.

In her senior years, her and Dad moved to French Creek, then finally to Courtenay, B.C.

They went to Hawaii several times - loving the warm water, music, palm trees and ever since going there, Mom loved to do the hula for us, and wore leis often!!

They also loved camping in their 5th wheel, lots of walks, gardening, watching hockey and visiting all their kids and grandkids. In her final years Mom lived at Cumberland Lodge.

We would like to thank all the wonderful caring staff at Cumberland Lodge for taking such good care of our mom. We are very grateful for all your kindness and making mom's final years so peaceful and happy for her.
