Ardis Goodwin

October 7, 1931

~ October 10, 2009

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of Ardis Goodwin Walter. After enduring Parkinson’s disease for 25 years she was blessed with a quick and peaceful passing at St. Joseph’s ECU on October 10th, 2009 having just reached the age of 78. Ardis was born in 1931 to Daniel and Hazel Allan in Alsask, Saskatchewan. After leaving the Prairies to become a hairdresser, she met and quickly married her sweetheart Rudy on December 31st, 1960 in Coquitlam where they started their family. Their life together took her from there to Vancouver Island and their beachfront home in Port McNeill where she learned to boat, enjoy seafood, and sang her way into the hearts of many lifelong friends. Retirement took them to Shawnigan Lake and winters in Arizona. They eventually moved closer to Family 17 years ago, building their home here in the Comox Valley. Predeceased by her parents, sisters Bessie and Dana, brother Bliss, and grandson Brent. Ardis will be forever loved and missed by her devoted husband of 49 years Rudy, twin sister Adele (Bill), sister Mary (Bob), son Brian, daughter Greta (Gary), stepchildren Renate and Reiner, granddaughter Andrea (Ian), great grandchildren Hailey, Hayden and Evan and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all Staff and Volunteers at St. Joseph’s Extended Care, and Dr. Musgrave for the compassion and professional care of Mom and Family support for the last 4 and a half years. Ardis was a sweet, gentle and loving woman full of spunk and humor who brought joy wherever she went. She was a talented pianist and shared her wonderful gift of music with so many in her lifetime. Even in her final years, she could always light up a room with a smile and a tune.

May she rest in the arms of the Angels.
