died Friday, June 23, 2017 at home,

surrounded by his family.

Aksel was born in Whitehorse, Yukon on June 4, 1935 to Robert T. and Elly (Rothe-Hansen) Porsild. He is survived by his wife, Lorene; Joyce Bevington the mother of their 4 children: Terry Porsild of Castricum, Netherlands; Neil and Jean Porsild of Chilliwack; Sandy and Dino Achilleos of London, Ontario; Charlene Porsild and Clark Whitehorn of Helena, Montana; step-son Bernie and Frances Moschenross; and by his sister Ellen Davignon of Whitehorse. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Alan and Amanda Porsild, Mark and Mathew Smit, Ryan and Jesse Emes, Noah Whitehorn, Danica Moschenross, and by his many nieces and nephews. Ax was preceded in death by his sisters Betty Seaborne and Jo Brown.

Ax loved books, birds, the outdoors, and his family. He loved to travel and saw many distant parts of Canada and the world. His many friends in the Comox Valley will miss his stories, his walks, his card playing, and his sense of humour. We are all better for having known and loved him.

A small memorial was held on Sunday, June 25th to honour Ax. Memorials may be sent in his name to the BC Cancer Society.
