Bertha Isabel (nee: Kirk)
1920 ~ 2008
Isabel was born in Brandon, Manitoba on October 7, 1910 and passed into the presence of her Lord on December 27, 2008. She was predeceased by her beloved husband David in 1998. She is survived by her brother Mervyn and his wife Bernice, and her nephews and nieces, Brian, Karen, Don, Elaine, Lucille, Gwen and many other great nieces and nephews.
She married David in 1938 and lived in Timmins, Ontario until 1948 when they moved to Bralorne, B.C. They lived there until the mine closed and then moved to the family farm in Courtenay to look after her parents. She resided there until David's passing and then moved to Coquitlam to be near Mervyn and his family. Bernice and Isabel became close companions on their shopping trips, appointments and social outings and when Isabel's health began to fail, Bernice was able to assist her in receiving the care she needed. Isabel's warm and caring spirit has made her many friends with whom she has kept close contact with over the years.
There will be a memorial service in Courtenay this spring, at which time her ashes will be interred at the St. Andews' Cemetery beside her husband David.
