1927 - 2002
Betty went peacefully to be with the Lord on Thanksgiving Day October 14, 2002. She leaves behind her husband Vernon Somerville; daughters: Brenda Somerville and Verna Watson; grandchildren: Shayla Watson, Willy Barkley, and Brody Wolfe; sisters: D’Arcy Kraushar, and Shirley Pebernat. Betty is predeceased by her father George Orr, mother Sarah (Sadie) Orr, brother Alvin Orr, and her beloved Aunt Anne Bailey.
Betty was born and raised in the Comox Valley. She had many fond memories of being raised on the family farm on 4th Street, Courtenay, and the family beach house at Kye Bay. She worked as a telephone operator for B.C. Telephone from the 1940’s to the 1960’s at which time she decided to stay home to raise and look after her family. She was a devoted wife and mother who will be dearly missed. Her family wishes to thank St. Joseph’s emergency, 2nd floor and 3rd floor nurses for their kindness and care, as well as the Community Health Workers, Home Care Nurses, Dr. Tancon, Dr. Dan, and Dr. Burry. There will be no service at Betty’s request.
