PATTERSON - Bill (Paddy), age 72, passed away suddenly at Cumberland Lodge on November 4, 2008. He had been a resident for only one week. He had however been in poor health for some time.

Over the years Bill lived off and on in Nanaimo and Cumberland. He worked in many places doing different jobs. During these years he made many lifelong friends, one of whom was Tom Sampson of Lantzville. Bill and Tom worked training and shoeing horses. When Bill's health failed him and he required heart by-pass surgery he went to live with his mother in Nanaimo. She was also in failing health so they were able to help each other. When his mom passed away in 2002 he moved back to Cumberland.

Bill was very outgoing. On healthier days he could be seen touring around on his scooter talking to all he met.

Bill was predeceased by his parents Eileen and Pete and older brother Sonny. He leaves behind his sister Gertie Wolden of Nanaimo, her daughters Eileen Bennett and family of Baltimore, Maryland and Carol Gray and family of Surrey, B.C. He also leaves many relatives in Nanaimo, good friend Val in Alberta and cousins Joe and Jacqueline Franceschini of Cumberland.

There will be an open tea on Monday, November 17 at 1:30 p.m. at the Cumberland Lodge for all Bill's friends and relatives to pay their respects.

Many thanks to Dr. Woldnik, Dave and staff at the pharmacy, the Comox Valley Home Support Group, the ambulance attendants, the staff at Comox Hospital and special thanks to the staff at Cumberland Lodge for their care and patience.
