Bill Schneider

February 25, 1925 ~ March 16, 2007

It is with the comfort and assurance of a perfect life waiting for us in heaven that the family of William (Bill) Schneider announce that he was called home by his Heavenly Father. He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 55 years, Eileen. Also left behind are his beloved family: sons, Rod (Janice) and Don (Jeanette); grandchildren: Trevor, Derek, Amanda, Courtney and Alyssa; brothers: Doug (Doreen) and Dick (Mary); sister Shirley (Jamie); numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Bill served for many years in the Canadian Armed Forces. He was stationed in France for a while and spent the final years of WWII serving in London. He finished his military service here in Comox. Bill is also well-known for the 19 years he worked for the City of Courtenay, his many years of fishing in the area, and his membership in local curling and golf clubs. Bill was an active and devoted member of Faith Lutheran Church.

His family would like to thank Pastor Rumsch and the congregation, as well as all of the family members, friends, and neighbours who offered their support through prayers, visits, phone calls, cards, meals, transportation, and in countless other ways over the course of Bill’s battle with cancer. We would also like to thank Dr. Ptak and Dr. Lundy for their excellent care, and the nurses and homecare workers for all of their support. In lieu of flowers, Bill has requested that donations be made to the Lutheran Hour Radio Program, 660 Mason Ridge Centre, St. Louis, Missouri, USA 64141 (lutheranhour.org) or the Canadian Cancer, #102-1509 Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay, BC V9N 2K6.

Bill’s funeral service will be held Saturday, March 24th at 1:00 pm at Faith Lutheran Church, 1688 McPhee Avenue, Courtenay, with Pastor Rumsch officiating.

Arrangements entrusted to COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIUM, 1101 RYAN ROAD.
