Captain William E McMeekin

June 2, 2002

McMeekin Captain William E. (Ted)

Born Owen Sound, Ontario, 28th June 1938, died peacefully at home on Quadra Island on June 2nd, 2002. He is survived by wife Marian; daughters: Lynne (Brad) Unger and Lori Renko; grandsons: David, Geoffrey, Will and Myles; brother Bob (Martha); nephew Keith; niece Robyn; and their families.

Ted was a Master Mariner whose career began on the Great Lakes at age 16. He moved out west in 1957, and plied our coastal waters with Blackball, Pacific Tidewater Marine, Northland Navigation, Dept. of Highways, and finally BC Ferries until his retirement in June 1998.

Ted was an avid skier and a member of the Mount Washington Ski Patrol for 13 years, so it is fitting that our Celebration of Ted’s Life be held at the Raven (Cross Country) Lodge at Mount Washington, at 1 pm, Monday, June 10th, 2002. Please bring your memories, your tears, and, most of all, your laughter as we honour our Captain Ted.

Our thanks to Dr. Smit and Dr. Wood, and the Palliative Care team of Dr. Helen Garson, Barb Osaka and Heather Fuller and their colleagues for smoothing the waters for Ted’s last difficult voyage into safe harbour.

No flowers please, but donations to the Campbell River Community Hospice Palliative Care Program. 110 Birch St., Campbell River, V9W 2F2 will be greatly appreciated.

Your condolences will be approved within one business day. You will need a valid Facebook account. Please email us if you have any questions.
