Carol Mackenzie

MACKENZIE, Carol

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and mentor, Carol MacKenzie, on February 8th, 2010 at the age of 86 years. She came into this full life on December 25, 1923 in New Westminster, B.C. to parents Ewart and Grace Weldon of Maple Ridge, B.C. Carol is survived by her 3 sons; Maurice Mackenzie (Devin), Andrew Mackenzie (Karen) and Rod MacKenzie, her grandchildren; Don Froehlich (Judy), Kevin Froehlich (Ona), Chad Franklin, Tammy MacKenzie, Shauna Swier (Mike), Megan MacKenzie, Jason MacKenzie, Jordan O’brien, Connor MacKenzie and Ashia MacKenzie, her great grandchildren; Aleya Jesson, Koral MacKenzie, Riley Herman and Miles Kenneth Swier as well as her sister Jean Robertson, her brother Noel Weldon and many friends. She was a go for it at a young age and while in the Air Force met the love of her life, our dad Ken MacKenzie whom she married on January 23, 1948 in Maple Ridge, B.C. Mom and Dad lived a wonderful life full of friends and family and had 3 sons; Maurice (1950), Andrew (1953) and Rod (1960). They retired to Vancouver Island in 1977 and built a home in Merville where Rod grew up and they were able to tend their precious garden and fish and relax in the beautiful area. With all her boys here on the island after the stubborn one Andrew finally moved here in 1981, Mom was complete. Mom and Dad laughed and loved until Dad passed away April 23, 1997. Mom missed Dad very much but carried on with life in her own house for the next years until failing health made a move to Glacier View Lodge necessary. She resided there under very good care for the rest of her life and died in her sleep with her sons near. She will be sorely missed by not only her sons but her many grandchildren and great grandchildren and many friends from all over the Island, Vancouver and Maple Ridge areas. A great loss for everyone. Say “Hi” to Dad, I’m sure he has been patiently waiting for you. Signed: All your Loving Family.
