ROBINSON, Catherine Jessica
June 2, 1916 – April 21, 2010
Passed peacefully at St. Joseph’s General Hospital our mother, grandmother, and friend. Cathie is survived by her loving family, son Richard, grandson Geoffrey, cousin Sally Hazelton, and sister-in-law Margaret. Born in Winnipeg, Cathie gave up life on the prairies and married the love of her life, a master mariner, Robbie. Retiring to the valley from Toronto, she became an enthusiastic supporter of St. Joseph’s Hospital auxiliary as a tireless volunteer who always had a ready helping hand, a warm smile, and hug. She thoroughly enjoyed her more than 25 years of volunteer service including a term as Auxiliary President.
Cathie was also a regular at the Comox Golf Club well into her late 80’s and after she could no longer participate in the infuriating game, she always tried to attend the ladies’ Thursday luncheon. She and Robbie were regulars at the Comox marina and Cathie in her later years would often spend time reminiscing while watching the marina activities.
The family gratefully acknowledges the care and dedication provided by Dr. Alison Stocks and the nursing team at St. Joseph’s General Hospital. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 1:00PM at Comox Valley Funeral Home, Cremation and Reception Centre, 1101 Ryan Road, Courtenay, BC. Light refreshments to follow. In keeping with her years of dedication, we request any donations in her memory to St. Joseph’s General Hospital Foundation.
