Ramos, Corazon “Cora”

of Black Creek, BC, died Sunday, Dec. 20th, 2009 in Victoria General Hospital after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Born in Guinayangan, Philippines, on May 22, 1947 to Jose and Remedios Castillo, Cora was an excellent student with a knack for teaching. She received her Bachelor of Education from the National Teacher’s College in Manila. She went on to teach English and Home Economics, first in the Philippines, then in Canada after immigrating here with her family in 1973.

Cora was an avid gardener, who also loved to sew, knit and crochet. She was also an amazing cook, which led to her opening a successful business in Campbell River that many know as “Cora’s Asian Foods and Groceries”.

Cora was a wonderful wife, and a loving mother to her three daughters. She is survived by her husband, Remberto; her daughters Cheryl and Claudette, her son-in-law David, her grandson, Kai; as well as her siblings, Editha and Alfredo.

The Funeral Mass was held on Dec. 30, 2009 at Christ the King Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
