JOHNSTON

Daniel

July 26, 1940 – March 20, 2008

Daniel arrived in Romford, Essex and willingly left again last Thursday morning, surrounded by color and flowers, his true friend Helga holding his hand. Daniel, a cultured, innovative poet and writer and a creative musician and composer, LIVED HIS LIFE DANIEL’S WAY. He immigrated to Calgary with his war bride, widowed mother and little sister. Daniel had a very tragic childhood and was orphaned at 14. He stayed at the Woods Christian Home in Calgary. Later, Daniel traveled to India to become a monk but was very disappointed that he “couldn’t hack it.” He then traveled on to New Zealand, Australia, Morocco and other places. Daniel became a Yoga Master teaching in Toronto and St. Helena, California. He came to the Comox Valley in 1994 – 5. An unforgettable recluse, he leaves with us his many manuscripts and lyric songs.

“Thou wilt find Eternal Traveler, marks of thy footsteps

across my songs.” – Tagore

Thanks to Dr. Millar for his compassionate care and to Home Support Team and especially Joan home O2 support and to his always loving friend, Helga. Daniel’s wishes: GIVE ME DRAMA. A dramatic music, dance-feast will be held at Helga’s home – Sunday, March 30 at 2:00 pm.
