Secord, Daniel (Dan) Servos Potts
1941 - 2005
Passed away at home on Friday, February 4, 2005. He was predeceased by his father Sidney Secord. Dan is survived by his wife, Dianne (nee: McNeill); son Danny (Denise) of Victoria; granddaughter Samantha; mother Rev. Norma Jones (Fred) of Cape Croker, ON; brother David of Chilko Lake; sisters: Mary Barker of Jarvis ON, Alice Barker (Peter) of Hagersville, ON, Kathryn Poirier of Coleman, AB, Bonnie May (Ken) of Lethbridge, AB, and Norma Secord (Charles Clark) of Wiarton, ON; numerous nieces and nephews; 2 uncles and 2 aunts in Ontario.
Dan started working in the bush in 1966 as a choker for 5 years and then drove truck until the Fall of 2004. He enjoyed gourmet cooking, woodworking, reading (many subjects) and his favourite trip was a flight to Queen Charlottes. Dan loved his job driving an off-road logging truck, loved the mountains, forests and the ocean. He had an exceptional sense of humour, a good friend and supporter of his bratty sisters who scorched the boiled potatoes and burned his shirts when ironing them.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Dan’s Life will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIUM, 1101 RYAN ROAD, COURTENAY. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, #102 - 1509 Cliffe Ave, Courtenay, B.C. V9N 2K6.
