WATT, David Francis “Dave”

June 29, 1932 – August 14, 2010

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our Dave at home in Comox on August 14, 2010.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jean, and their children Katherine Rolston, Anne (Jim) Buchanan, John (Sheila) Watt and Roger (Christy) Watt and 11 grandchildren: Frances, Eryn, Ryan, Paul, Thomas, Mark, Georgia, Justin, Jayson, Owen and Carlin and his sister, Marion (Dick) McLeod of Port Franks, Ontario and  many nieces, nephews and cousins. Dave was predeceased by his parents David and Irene Watt of London, Ontario.

Dave joined the R.C.M.P., trained at Rockcliffe (Ottawa) and depot in Regina. He was posted to B.C. and served in Duncan, Port Alberni, Lake Cowichan, Quesnel, Kelowna, Bralorne,  Alberni and in charge at Fort Nelson, Creston and Courtenay. He made many friends wherever he went! He was a true “Mountie.” Dave valued his community, family and friends.

Dave lived life to the fullest with zest, enjoying many holidays, adventures and times with family. Dave instilled his values of honesty, fairness, and compassion to all of his family. His special qualities and spirit will live on in them.

He will be dearly missed by the love of his life, Jean, his entire family and all who knew him.

A special thank you to Dr. Fitzpatrick, Dr. Engman and the nurses at St. Joseph’s chemo/cancer and CT scan department. We appreciated the special care provided by the Comox Valley Home Care nurses. Special mention goes to Tim Cowan and staff at the Medicine Shoppe for their exceptional care. Many dear friends and neighbours have been most supportive and caring.

Dave’s Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 21st at 2:00 p.m. at St. George’s United Church, Courtenay. Refreshments will follow in the Church Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dave’s name may be made to the B.C. Cancer Agency, Vancouver Island or

St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, Comox.
