Nickason, Don Edward
1915 - 2005
Don passed away peacefully in his 89th year at St. Joseph’s ECU, April 11, 2005. He was predeceased by his five siblings: Chuck, Harold, Morris, Margaret and Mary. Don leaves behind his loving wife, Edna, married 66 years; sons Don (Leni), Wayne (Brenda), and Bruce (Donna); grandchildren: Larry, Tina, Jim and Doug; great-grandchildren Jacob, Grace, Kayla and Brandon and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The majority of Don’s career was spent as a Millwright at McMillan Bloedel’s Somas Division in Port Alberni. Don was always on the go. He loved camping, hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. He was also a very skilled photographer, capturing many great memories of his adventurous travels with his camera.
Don was an energetic, proud, determined, inquisitive and well-read man; always ready to help others in need. Although strong willed and passionate in his beliefs, he was broad minded and fair. Since moving to Courtenay in July 2003, Don formed many friendships, especially neighbours.
Special thanks to the nurses and staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital ECU, to the 3rd Floor staff and to Dr. McNie for his continued care.
Respecting Don’s wishes there will be no funeral service. A Celebration of his life will be announced and held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, P.O. Box 1225, Comox, B.C. V9N 7Z8.
