Donald “Don” Edward

Don passed away at St. Joseph’s General Hospital on Monday, October 11, 2004. He was predeceased by his parents: Walter & Doris Wood and his brothers: Stanley and Raymond Wood. Don is survived by his wife Helen Elizabeth (Betty) Wood; son Steven Wood (Gloria) of Campbell River; daughter Linda Anderson (Christopher) of Campbell River; step-daughters: Gail Dresen (Gary) of Chilliwack, Mona Minary (Karl) of Courtenay, and Nadine Cummings (Orlyn) of Courtenay; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother Kenneth Wood (Helen) of Ontario and Elaine Wood (Bob) of Ontario.
Don served 20 years of peace time and for the U.N., 3 years in Germany, 1 year in Egypt and 6 months in Cyprus. He was a member of the Comox Royal Canadian Legion. Don worked for the post office in Toronto, Ontario and then in the Postal Corps in the army. He enjoyed making many statues in cement, was an avid gardener, painter of many pictures in oil, was very accomplished at doing needle and petti point pictures. Don was a quiet man, but also had a sense of humor, loyal husband, loving father, stepfather and will be missed and always remembered by all.
