FARQUHAR, Doreen Boswell

Doreen Farquhar passed away in Comox, British Columbia on May 13th, 2006. She was predeceased by her parents Beatrice and WilliamSandeman. Doreen is survived and will be lovingly missed by her husband John “Ian” Farquhar, her son Gordon (June) Farquhar of Merville, her daughters: Alison (Bob) Farquhar of Victoria, Irene (John) LaBoyne of Salmon Arm and Anne (Deha) Saragoglu of Istanbul, Turkey,? her grandchildren: Katelyn, Ewan, Cameron, April and Emre, her twin brother Leonard Sandeman of Leigh, England, her sister Joyce (Alec) Forbes of Edinburgh, Scotland as well as many nieces and nephews in Canada, Scotland and Australia. Doreen was a student at Watsons Ladies College in Edinburgh, Scotland where she became a prefect and excelled at sports becoming the captain of the school grass hockey team. She met her husband Ian in 1946 after the war and they married in 1947 and together they immigrated to Canada in 1951. Doreen spent many years with Prospect Lake and Sunnydale Golf Clubs and in her leisure time enjoyed golf, quilting and knitting. Doreen took the newborn baby pictures in the Victoria hospitals for many years. She really enjoyed big “do’s” (parties). Private arrangements entrusted to COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIUM, 1101 RYAN ROAD, COURTENAY. Donations made in Doreen’s memory to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
