FINNIE, Dorothy Ada

1927 – 2010

Dorothy Ada Finnie passed away on June 28, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

She was born in Windsor, Ontario on February 28, 1927 to Fred and Catherine Musson. Dorothy grew up in a close-knit family and was active in the church throughout her life, from “the AY Gang” in her youth to the Mothers Union later in life. She met her life partner, Keith at her first job at the Bell Telephone Co., where she was a repair service operator and he a lineman. They celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary in October 2009. Always devoted to her family, Dorothy made all of the clothing for herself, her children and enjoyed exercising her great talent for knitting, needlework and as a seamstress. She was an avid reader and a lifelong fan of baseball and hockey. Dorothy lived with her family in Windsor, Oakville (1960) and finally in Comox (1987).

Dorothy missed Keith terribly after his passing last October and we are now pleased to believe they are together again, in love.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Lynn (John), Keith (Gloria), Marianne and Doug; grandchildren: Ben, Sarah, Tom, Julia, Peter and Samantha and her great-granddaughter Anya.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at St. John the Divine Anglican Church, 579 – 5th Street, Courtenay on Wednesday, July 7 th at 2:00 pm.

A donation in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the Mother’s Union or to St. John the Divine Anglican Church.
