BROWN - Dorothy Agnes of Comox, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday May 21, 2009.

Predeceased by her husband J. Thomas Brown. She is survived by sons Ronald (Gail) Brown, and Alan (Kazuko) Brown; grandchildren Jennifer, Lesley Anne, Amy and Hanna Brown; sister Joyce Kilpatrick of Ventura, California; nephew Ted Kilpatrick and nieces. Joan Crain and Linda Zych.

Dorothy graduated from Saskatoon Normal School with a teaching degree and started her career in a one room school house in Struan, Saskatchewan. While on a teachers exchange in Grace Bay, Nova Scotia she met and married Tom Brown, who was a fighter pilot in Gander, Newfoundland. After the war, they moved to Saskatoon, where she taught in Victoria school for 4 years. When Tom Brown graduated with his engineering degree, they moved to Edmonton where she worked as a music specialist with the Edmonton Public School Board until retirement, when they moved to the Comox Valley in 1983.

In her leisure, Dorothy enjoyed music, bridge, golfing, travel and cooking.

Thanks to Dr. Tancon and staff at ValleyCare Medical Clinic. A special thanks to home care nursing and all the home support workers who made dying at home with dignity possible.

She was a loving mother who enjoyed life to its fullest. She will always be remembered by her family for the Sunday dinners and great vacations.

Dorothy's funeral service will take place on Saturday May 30th at 2:00 pm from the Church of St. John the Diving, with Father George Daley officiating. Cremation will follow.
