Dad passed away suddenly at Berwick House on October 3 surrounded by caring friends and staff.

Dad was a charismatic curmudgeon. His sense of humour and ability to charm the ladies in his life endeared him to many and he was well loved.

He was a World War Two veteran who served in major campaigns in Europe. His interests and passions included travel, vegetable gardening, baking cookies and music. He had a large collection of music of all kinds and was a proud brother of Georgia Dey who sang with the Mart Kenny orchestra. He was also a proud father of six children. He spoke often and glowingly of their many accomplishments and was a loving grandfather to nine grandchildren.

Dad was well ahead of current thinking regarding sharing of household chores. In the 1950’s and 1960’s Dad happily took responsibility for the grocery shopping, ironing, laundry and was famous for his Italian style spaghetti sauce and burned barbeque chicken.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the residents and staff at Berwick House for taking such loving care of him during his 3 year stay there.

His wife, Edith, predeceased him in 2000 and he missed her so much. We’re sure there is a glorious reunion taking place with Dad, Mom, son Wayne and grandaughter Chrystal right now.

A gathering of friends and family will take place at Berwick House, Comox on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 2;30 P.M.
