In Loving Memory ~
It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Dr. Bradley James Harris on March 14, 2022, at his home, in Royston, BC at the age of 49. He was born February 16, 1973, in London, Ontario.
He leaves behind, his wife and soulmate of 29 years Dennyse Harris, their son Max (age 15) and daughter Linden (age 13), his father Jim Harris, mother Marilyn Harris, sister Shannon Harris and brother in-law Scot McDermid and their two children Heather and Malcom.
Brad and Dennyse met while Brad was attending UBC working on his Honours Bachelor's degree in Physiology. They married in 1995 and lived in Vancouver, BC while Brad attended Medical School. In 1999 they moved to Nova Scotia, where Brad completed his Family Medicine Residency at Dalhousie University, graduating in 2001.
After 3 years of working as a Family Physician in Toronto, Brad and Dennyse set off and travelled around the world for 365 days. Brad had an incredible zest for life, meeting new people and sharing stories. He loved to travel, and his favorite quote was "Attitude is the difference between ordeal and adventure".
In 2005 they settled in the Comox Valley and Brad joined the Comox Medical Clinic. He cared deeply about his patients, his co-workers and the wellbeing of everyone and their families.
Brad enjoyed fishing, skiing, and hiking -he loved the outdoors. He also had a deep interest in craft beer and the science of brewing.
In 2011 he started brewing beer in his garage (The Royston Nano Brewery) and became a legend in the community-known as "the doctor who brews beer" After helping his young daughter battle leukemia, Brad focused on brewing beer for charity. He started his own campaign "It's not just beer.... its LOVE." It was his passion for community and contribution, that inspired him to host many events and social gatherings- raising over 110K for BC Children's Hospital and local Comox Valley non-profit organization Y.A.N.A.
Brad loved social gatherings and always wanted everyone to feel welcome.
