Heighton, Edna May
May 1, 1919 - March 11, 2006
Died in Comox with her loving family surrounding her. Predeceased by husband, George in 1985, brothers William (Bill) and Raymond, and is survived by brother Melvin Challstrom and family of Oakville, Ontario, daughters Sheila McLellan (Dan) of Courtenay, BC, Barbara McCoy (Kevin) of Airdrie, AB, 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. She was born and raised in Saskatchewan, married and moved to Nelson, BC where they raised their family, then retired with husband George to Okanagan Falls in 1981 and finally moving to Courtenay in 2000 to be nearer family. Both Edna and George loved to travel and after she was widowed she carried right on traveling to many parts of Canada, Scandanavia, the U.K., Alaska and several states so leaves this world with no regrets. Edna had a real zest for life and made lasting friendships wherever she went. Edna’s family sincerely thank Dr. Janet Green, Home Care Support and the 3rd Floor nursing staff at St. Joseph’s for their dedication and compassion over the last few months. A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Edna will be held on Thursday, March 16 at 9:30 a.m. at Piercy’s Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church building fund.
