EDNA E. YORK
1914-2005
Edna was born October 18, 1914 in Throne, Alberta and passed away peacefully on May 6, 2005 at Glacier View Lodge in Courtenay. She was predeceased by her husband Jake in 1992, son David in 1943 and her brother Leo Defoe in 2003. Edna is survived by her children: Jim (Lois) York of Red Deer, AB, Vanda (Ken) Woodland of Courtenay, Eileen Johnston of Victoria, Olive-Jean (Reg) Stephens of Sechelt, Doreen (Dennis) Phye of Courtenay, Linda (Rick) Jarvis of Williams Lake and Marie Cameron of Yellowknife, NWT. She is also survived by her sisters: Olive (Virg) York of Oyster Bay and Mary (Jack) York of Anaheim, BC, 21 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the wonderful caregivers and friends at Glacier View Lodge for their endless care and support during Edna’s time there.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at Piercy’s/Mt. Washington Funeral Home, 440 England Ave. with Mr. Lawrence Burns officiating. Following the service a reception will be held in Piercy’s Glacier Tea Room.
Should friends desire, donations can be made in Edna’s name to Glacier View Lodge.
