Eleanor passed away peacefully

at Oceanview, St. Joseph’s Hospital Comox, BC, in the early hours of March 16th. She was born Eleanor B. Downey in Kelfield Sask., one of four children and was raised in Willingdon Alta. She married George William Warren in 1944 in Vegreville Alta. She is survived by her brother Lloyd Downey {Calgary) and two children Elaine (Noel) Kierstead, and George (Pamela) Warren, two grandchildren Meredith (Neil) Barakat and David Turcotte Warren, as well as three great grandchildren.

Eleanor and George moved to the Comox Valley in 1965 when George started the meat Dept. at Leung’s Grocery. Eleanor became very involved in the community. She was an avid bowler, bridge, whist and bingo player. She was a very proud member of the Canadian Daughter’s League. She volunteered on Courtenay’s July 1st committee and was a life-long member of the “Old Age Pensioners”.

Mom enjoyed the lunches and activities at both the Evergreen and D’Esterre where she had many friends.

The family would like to thank Pat King, Julie Ryan and her many friends who were so supportive in her final days. We would also like to extend sincere thanks to the wonderful caring staff at “The Views” and at Casa Loma and to Dr. W. Crowe for maintaining her excellent health for nearly 35 years.

No service at Eleanor’s request.
